Summer at Kolašin Valleys: Beyond the Ski Season

While Kolašin is widely known for its winter landscape, the warmer months reveal a completely different side of the mountains.

Surrounded by the Bjelasica, Komovi, Sinjajevina and Moračke Vučje mountain ranges, Kolašin becomes a natural starting point for exploring Montenegro’s highlands. Hiking and mountain biking trails lead through forests and open meadows, while horseback riding and jeep tours offer another way to experience the surrounding landscape.

Summer here is shaped by time outdoors. Days can include rafting along mountain rivers, morning yoga, picnics beside alpine lakes or simply walking through the forests and valleys surrounding the resort. The Tara, Morača and Mrtvica rivers form part of the wider landscape, alongside a network of high-altitude lakes including Biograd, Pešić, Ursulovac, Great and Small Lakes, Captain’s Lake and Rikavac.

One of the area’s most remarkable natural landmarks is Biogradska Gora National Park, located around 15 minutes from Kolašin Valleys. One of Montenegro’s oldest national parks, it is home to one of Europe’s remaining primeval forests, centuries-old trees and Lake Biograd. The park is also recognised by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.

The summer experience extends beyond outdoor adventure. Families can discover nature workshops, wildlife programmes and open-air playgrounds, while seasonal festivals, local music and culinary traditions introduce visitors to another side of life in northern Montenegro.

For Kolašin Valleys, this changing rhythm is an essential part of the destination. Winter brings direct access to the slopes; summer opens the mountains to trails, meadows, rivers and lakes. Together, they shape a resort designed to be experienced throughout the year.

From snowy winters to long days surrounded by green highlands, every season brings a new way to experience Kolašin Valleys.
